The problem

Typing prompts into ChatGPT isn't a tracking strategy

Most teams check AI visibility by asking ChatGPT a few questions and posting screenshots in Slack. It feels like data. It isn't. AI answers change with every run, engine, country, and phrasing.

Without tracking

  • Random spot checks
  • ChatGPT only
  • Losses noticed months later
  • Guessing which pages count

With Rankshift

  • Automatic daily or weekly runs
  • Every engine, same prompts
  • Share of voice shifts as they happen
  • The exact URLs each engine cites

How it works

Set it up once, then let the data come to you

  1. Choose your prompts

    Step 1

Add the questions your buyers ask AI when they're researching your category: comparisons, "best tool for" queries, how-to questions, and branded prompts. Group them by topic so reporting stays tidy.

  2. Pick your engines

    Step 2

Track every engine or just the ones that matter to your market. Run prompts daily when you need a close eye on things, or weekly when a trend line is enough. You control where your credits go.

  3. Read the results, then act

    Step 3

Your dashboard shows visibility, share of voice, sentiment, and citations over time. When something needs attention, it turns up as a concrete task, not a vague red number.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is AI visibility tracking?

It's the practice of measuring how often, and how favorably, your brand appears in answers from AI engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. Instead of tracking keyword positions on a results page, you track prompts: the questions people ask AI, and whether the answers mention, recommend, or cite you.

Which AI engines does Rankshift track?

ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, Mistral, and Meta AI. You can track all of them or only the ones relevant to your market.

How often does the data update?

You choose per prompt: daily or weekly. Daily makes sense for high-stakes prompts and fast-moving categories. Weekly is plenty for spotting trends and costs fewer credits.

Why do my results vary between runs?

Because AI answers genuinely vary. The same prompt can produce different brands on different days. That's exactly why a single manual check is unreliable and why tracking the same prompts over time gives you a trustworthy picture.

What's the difference between a mention and a citation?

A mention is when the AI names your brand in its answer. A citation is when it links to one of your pages as a source. You can be mentioned without being cited and cited without being mentioned. Rankshift tracks both separately.

How does pricing work?

Rankshift uses credits. Each prompt run on an engine uses credits, so you decide how to spend them: more prompts on a weekly schedule, or fewer prompts checked daily. Every plan includes unlimited seats and projects.

Can I track competitors?

Yes. Add the competitors you care about and Rankshift benchmarks your visibility, share of voice, and sentiment against theirs on every prompt.
